The dawning of 2024 signals a milestone year for Waterford Walls as it celebrates its tenth year, and the team behind the street art festival have some suitably big plans in store.

One of Waterford’s flagship festivals, Waterford Walls is passionate about placemaking, and set to bring another explosion of colour and creativity to the city’s walls. To do this, they need your help.

The Waterford Walls team is calling on individuals and businesses in Waterford to submit their walls for artists to paint at this year’s festival. They are ready to bring amazing transformations of homes, businesses and neighbourhoods, and want to hear your ideas.

There are lots of different types of suitable walls: public-facing boundary walls, gable ends and large building facades; preferably more than one storey houses and without too many windows. Suggested sites will be assessed by the team, and those chosen paired up with an artist for painting in August. Wall owners wishing to submit a wall for review should get in touch with The Walls Project, or head to the website and click ‘I Have a Wall’.

Businesses may also choose to sponsor a wall, giving them the opportunity to support this vibrant festival, and become the patron of a street art mural by a top international artist. The Walls Project has a range of packages available.

Waterford Walls is an international street art festival taking place from August 9 to 18, and organised by creative arts agency The Walls Project. In 2023, the festival brought over forty artists from all over the world to transform sites around Waterford and aims to go bigger and better in 2024 for its milestone Year Ten. A record-breaking 1400 artist applications were received by the team including some very exciting world-class headline names. Waterford Walls is supported by Waterford Council, The Arts Council and headline sponsor Writer’s Tears.
