The Waterford Viking Marathon 2025 is proud to announce its most inclusive event yet, set to take place on the 21st and 22nd of June in Ireland’s oldest city.
This year’s event will make history by hosting Ireland’s first Disability-Friendly Run, catering to participants with vision impairments, hearing impairments, brain injuries, and more.
The event promises something for everyone, featuring a full marathon, half marathon, 10k, an 8k Disability-Friendly Run, and a Children’s Run.
The Children’s Fun Run, which kicks off on Saturday, June 21st in the RSC Waterford, offers three distances—500m, 1km, and 2.5km—ensuring young participants of all abilities can get involved. The main events will follow on Sunday, June 22nd.
In addition to its inclusive race offerings, the Waterford Viking Marathon is thrilled to announce its partnership with the RNLI as this year’s official charity partner. Participants will have the opportunity to support the lifesaving work of the RNLI while enjoying the backing of Waterford-based sportswear company Azzurri, the official race apparel provider.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Waterford City, which was founded by Vikings over 1,100 years ago, the marathon route is a celebration of heritage and natural beauty. Runners will traverse some of Ireland’s most picturesque landscapes, including the internationally renowned Mount Congreve Gardens, providing a race experience like no other.
