Waterford Chamber has welcomed Taoiseach Micheál Martin’s response in the Dáil to The South East 2075: A Regional Strategy for Prosperity & Connectivity, following a call by Waterford TD Deputy Conor McGuinness for Government to support the region’s €45 billion economic ambition.

The Taoiseach acknowledged his familiarity with the Chamber and its work, recognising its proactive and forward-looking approach and indicating that Government would respond to its proposals.

Waterford Chamber welcomed this positive response and the Taoiseach’s willingness to engage, and looks forward to meeting with him at the earliest opportunity to discuss advancing the strategy.

Significant work is underway to build the political and institutional support needed to deliver the strategy, which identifies transport connectivity, housing, healthcare, higher education, renewable energy and enterprise development as key priorities for sustainable regional growth.

As the South East’s anchor city, Waterford has a vital role to play in strengthening Ireland’s national economy. Realising the region’s €45 billion ambition will require coordinated Government action, strategic investment and sustained collaboration.

Waterford Chamber remains committed to driving this agenda forward and ensuring that positive political engagement translates into meaningful commitments and tangible progress for Waterford and the wider South East.
