Waterford Chamber are hosting the South East Jobs and Skills Fair on Saturday, February 22nd in the Granville Hotel Waterford from 9am to 3pm.
The event is free to attend and will feature pop-up stands with employers from across the region who currently have live roles and are actively recruiting full, part-time and seasonal roles.
According to Gerald Hurley, CEO Waterford Chamber, “From our ongoing engagement with our members and the wider business community, we understand that recruitment is one of the key challenges in doing business in the current climate. The South East Jobs & Skills Fair has been running for the past three years in direct response to the need of our employers looking to meet the right candidates for employment.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for regional employers and has the potential to have a huge return on what is a very small investment. It is also a gateway for people looking for work or considering a career change to see what’s out there in the market and we have companies from all over the region taking part.”
Companies will have representatives on the day to speak to potential employees, take CVs and meet privately with interested parties. The event has the full support of the Department of Social Protection, along with Waterford City & County Council, IDA Ireland, Enterprise Ireland, Ireland South East and other regional representative bodies, who are working together to drive a stronger region.
“Enterprise Ireland have also come on board, along with Waterford City & County Council and the other regional Local Authorities. We have also reached out to our wider Chamber network in the South East. It is important for the future of our city and region that job creation and successful career planning remains at the top of our agenda and this event is just one step towards that.
“We are also advocating for diversity and inclusion on the day and the first hour, from 9am to 10am will be a sensory hour, so people with disabilities or those in our autistic community can come along and meet with employers in relation to work placement or securing employment in our community,” concluded Mr Hurley.
Employers will be charged a nominal fee to exhibit, while the event is completely free to attend for those looking for new opportunities.
