Treo Port Lairge CLG is a Waterford-based community project working with young adults who have offended. We are core-funded by the Department of Justice through the Probation Service and are a registered charity.
The main aim of Treo is to reduce reoffending by supporting individuals to make positive, lasting changes in their lives. We provide educational, social, and vocational supports while constructively challenging offending behaviour and promoting responsible decision-making.
Employability Programme
Our Employability Programme is a structured six-week programme delivered to a select group of individuals engaged with Treo and the Probation Service. The programme prepares participants to apply for employment and equips them with the skills, confidence, and mindset needed to sustain work. A key focus is supporting individuals to overcome the stigma often associated with involvement in the criminal justice system.
Participants:
- Aged 18 years and over
- Male and female
We are currently seeking employers willing to offer a two-week work experience placement in a real-world work setting.
Participants on this programme:
- Have demonstrated a strong work ethic
- Are motivated to progress into full-time employment
- Have made significant positive changes in their lives
- May lack confidence due to fear of rejection rather than lack of ability
Proven Experience
Treo Port Lairge has successfully delivered this employment model through its own hands-on social enterprise, Renew Enterprises, operating for the past four years in Johnstown, Waterford.
Why Get Involved?
- By offering a short work placement, employers can:
- Support social inclusion and community development
- Help motivated individuals gain real workplace experience
- Play a meaningful role in reducing reoffending
- Identify potential future employees
