Waterford Chamber to host South East Jobs and Skills Fair 2024
Waterford Chamber, in partnership with Waterford City and County Council, are hosting the South East Jobs and Skills Fair 2024 on Saturday, February 17, in City Hall Waterford from 9am to 3pm.
The event is free to attend and will feature pop-up stands with employers from across the region who currently have live roles and are actively recruiting full, part-time and seasonal roles.
According to Gerald Hurley, CEO Waterford Chamber: “Waterford and the South East Region is a hot topic right now, with so many accolades coming our way, including the New York Times inclusion in the best places to visit, the securing of the World Rally Championship, as well as being named Ireland’s best place to live and the European Christmas Capital for 2024.
“There is no doubt this will result in people considering Waterford and the region as a relocation destination and the Jobs Fair is an opportunity for highly skilled professionals to meet with prospective employers.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for regional employers and has the potential to have a huge return on what is a very small investment. It is also a gateway for people looking for work or considering a career change to see what’s out there in the market and we have companies from all over the region taking part,” added Mr Hurley.
Companies will have representatives on the day to speak to potential employees, take CVs and meet privately with interested parties.
The event has the full support of the Department of Social Protection, along with IDA Ireland, Enterprise Ireland, Ireland South East and other regional representative bodies, who are working together to drive a stronger region.
“Enterprise Ireland have also come on board, along with Waterford City and County Council and the other regional Local Authorities. We will also be reaching out to our wider Chamber network in the South East.
“It is important for the future of our city and region that job creation and success career planning remains at the top of our agenda and this event is just one step towards that.
“We are also advocating for diversity and inclusion on the day and the first hour, from 9am to 10am will be a sensory hour, so people with disabilities or those in our autistic community can come along and meet with employers in relation to work placement or securing employment in our community,” concluded Mr Hurley.
Employers will be charged a nominal fee to exhibit, while the event is completely free to attend for those looking for new opportunities. For more information visit waterfordchamber.ie or contact lynda.lawton@waterfordchamber.ie
