St. Dominic Credit Union and Waterford Credit Union are delighted to announce that discussions have commenced in relation to combining resources.

The aim is to become an even stronger Credit Union, expanding available services across Waterford and South Kilkenny. The Board of Directors and staff in both Credit Unions are fully committed to this strategic merger.

By combining the Credit Unions, the Boards will build upon the existing services, allowing the new Credit Union to make a distinct and positive contribution to the challenges and opportunities facing members at present. This merger is an opportunity to enhance member experience whilst also making a huge contribution to the local community. The combined Credit Union will serve over 60,000 members with a combined asset size of €330 million.

Commitment to Transparency
This announcement is a show of intention by both Credit Unions to move forward in unison with this process. As a unified entity, these Credit Unions are wholly committed to ensuring that members are given the final say on this merger at a Special General Meeting before any decision can be made. Approval from the Central Bank of Ireland will be required in advance of this SGM.

Member Benefits
Members are encouraged to attend their respective SGMs and vote yes for the merger of St. Dominic Credit Union and Waterford Credit Union. By voting yes, members will receive a number of additional benefits from their local Credit Union.

  • Members will have access to 5 branches across Waterford and South Kilkenny, allowing them to bank where it’s most convenient.
  • With a larger lending team, loan approvals will be faster than ever.
  • A larger and more powerful Credit Union will be able to introduce newer technologies, allowing for the upgrade of existing digital platforms for an improved member experience.
Business as Usual
Throughout this proposed process, it is important to note that business will continue as usual with no impact on day-to-day member service. Both teams remain fully committed to delivering the highest quality service.

All members are encouraged to attend the SGMs and vote yes for the future of their Credit Unions.
