SETU appoints Chief Financial Officer Aisling O’Beirne
South East Technological University (SETU) has appointed Aisling O’Beirne as its first Chief Financial Officer (CFO), a key executive leadership role that will strengthen SETU’s ongoing development and the University’s transformative impact on the southeast region.
As Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Executive Management team, Aisling will provide strategic financial leadership and oversee long-term financial planning to support SETU’s future growth and ambitions as a technological university. Professor Veronica Campbell, President of SETU, commented, “We are very pleased to welcome Aisling O’Beirne as SETU’s first Chief Financial Officer. This appointment marks an important step in our continued evolution. Aisling’s extensive global experience and strategic financial leadership will be invaluable as we continue to grow, innovate, and deliver on our ambitions as a technological university.”
Speaking on her appointment, Aisling said, “I am delighted to join SETU as Chief Financial Officer and to contribute to the University’s development. I look forward to working with the President, Executive Team, and wider colleagues in supporting SETU’s plans and priorities for the future.”
Aisling is a Chartered Global Management accountant and holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Trinity College Dublin. She is an experienced and strategic finance leader with a strong track record of working in large and complex organisations to design and implement financial strategy aligned to organisational objectives. She has held several senior finance leadership roles across industry, including as Global CFO for Accenture Industry X. Aisling’s experience spans the pharmaceutical, ICT, and advanced manufacturing, and engineering sectors.
In 2024, Aisling was appointed by the Minister for Agriculture, Food, and the Marine as a Director to the Board of the Irish National Stud, where she also serves on the Audit Committee. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and a member of the Institute of Directors in Ireland.
