South East Technological University (SETU) and Uniphar have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance collaboration that connects pharmacy education with professional practice and supports the development of sectoral-ready pharmacists.
The MoU will focus on Uniphar providing the opportunity to engage with teacher practitioners as a bridge between practice and education. It also focuses on supporting SETU’s Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) programme with relevant guest lectures, placements and student prizes.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to delivering high-quality, relevant education for pharmacy students at SETU, while strengthening links with the pharmacy sector to support innovation, professional development, and excellence in patient care.
President of SETU, Professor Veronica Campbell, said, “This partnership with Uniphar reinforces our commitment to ensuring that our pharmacy students benefit from real-world insight and experience. Through a sectorally connected and informed MPharm we are building meaningful pathways between education and practice that will enrich learning, inspire future careers, and deliver lasting benefits for patients and communities.”
Dr Claire Lennon, Head of Department of Pharmacy at SETU, said, “This MoU is an important step in our collaboration with Uniphar and will ensure our students learn and connect with current practice, and emerging trends in the pharmacy sector. This supports our programme goals to provide authentic learning experiences that build confidence, competence, and a strong professional identity in our students.”
Shane O’Neill, Director of Pharmacy at Uniphar said, “Uniphar is delighted to establish this partnership with SETU, reflecting not only our longstanding presence in community pharmacy across the South East, but also our continued commitment to supporting the learning and development of the next generation of pharmacists”.
The MoU also provides a framework for ongoing dialogue and future initiatives between SETU and Uniphar, with the aim of fostering innovation, lifelong learning, and strong connections across the pharmacy profession.
Both organisations look forward to working together to create meaningful opportunities that benefit students, staff, and the wider healthcare community.
This collaboration highlights SETU’s commitment to sectoral engagement and work-integrated learning, and Uniphar’s dedication to supporting education, professional development, and the advancement of pharmacy practice in Ireland.
