National Women’s Enterprise Day 2025 launched

Female entrepreneurs and budding businesswomen from across Waterford are being encouraged to register for this year’s National Women’s Enterprise Day. Ireland’s largest female enterprise event is back again for 2025. National Women’s Enterprise Day, now in its 19th year will take place at the Majestic Hotel, Tramore on Thursday October 16th. Waterford’s event is just one of 15 nationwide with a range of different topics and speakers covering everything from how to improve your online presence to how to become a more sustainable business. 

The event kicks off with a buffet breakfast and networking session, providing attendees an opportunity to connect and share experiences. Following breakfast, the focus will shift to a workshop led by Mags Boland titled "Engage your Authentic Leadership – Be Yourself." In this insightful session, Mags will delve into topics around Female Leadership. Mags is an experienced sales, business, marketing professional. She is professionally qualified in business disciplines and brings over 20 years of sector specific experience to the table in a variety of professional sectors including tourism & hospitality, media, food, construction, education, and national event management.

Mags is a recognised business mentor with the LEO Network, Intertrade Ireland and Failte Ireland. Her no-nonsense approach helps clients to focus their passion on specific ventures and opportunities which deliver powerful growth and profitable businesses. After a break and further networking, the morning continues with a compelling panel session hosted by Nichola Beresford. The panel titled “Leading with Impact: Stories from Women in Business” will explore challenges, opportunities and lessons learned providing attendees with valuable insights and practical advice from their diverse experiences.

The illustrious panel includes Marian Walsh, Maggie Breathnach and Janice Taylor. Operating as Director of Project Controls & Project Management with Carron + Walsh, Marian Walsh has over twenty years’ experience in the construction industry in Ireland & internationally. She has acquired significant knowledge and expertise in the areas of project & program management best practice, governance, program audit, project controls, contract administration, cost engineering, project planning, estimating, and risk management.

Maggie Breathnach is an IFTA and RTS award-winning Director/Producer with over two decades industry experience. Maggie’s passion lies in culture and the arts. A fluent Irish speaker, Maggie relocated her company Red Shoe Productions from Dublin to the An Rinn Gaeltacht, to contribute to the cultural landscape in the regions and to create employment. She is also a strong and passionate advocate for women in the arts. As a long-time advocate for the artistic community, her vision and ambition is to push the boundaries of the reach of arts programming. As well as promoting the use of the Irish language in the sector, Maggie is keen to contribute to the preservation and archive of the Irish arts.

Janice Taylor is a Founder and Director of Taylors Recruitment Company Limited, specialising in local and international recruitment across Ireland, the UK, Australia, and Asia. Having overcome significant personal challenges, Janice is driven by her strong faith. She sees incredible value in community. A proud member of Network Ireland Waterford, she credits its supportive, inspiring network with providing invaluable relationships and opportunities that continue to shape her journey.

 A light lunch will be provided after the panel session to enable continued networking. National Women’s Enterprise Day, Ireland’s largest female enterprise event promotes, encourages and stimulates female entrepreneurship across Ireland. It is designed and led by women and is an annual high point in promoting entrepreneurship to women in Ireland. The Local Enterprise Office along with Enterprise Ireland provide a wide range of help, incentives, training, and development programmes to female entrepreneurs.

While help is available all year round, National Women’s Enterprise Day allows LEO Waterford to turn the spotlight on female entrepreneurship. It attracts widespread media attention. It opens the prospect of entrepreneurship to women who may not have considered it before. It highlights what support is available. It provides valuable networking opportunities and connections with industry experts. And it celebrates the achievements of women in enterprise.

Jacqui Gaule, Senior Enterprise Development Officer, Local Enterprise Office Waterford said that the event will be of benefit to any female entrepreneur who is either thinking of starting a business or already in business. “The speakers at this event are highly renowned in their own right as well as inspiring others in business.  Supporting women in enterprise and addressing the key challenges confronting women in business is paramount to ensuring female entrepreneurs realise their full business potential.
