Course Aim
The aim of this course is to equip attendees with the knowledge and understanding of work addiction, it’s impact and how to approach workplace mental health. Participants will look at self care and prevention as well as how to approach work addiction based on current guidance and standards.
Work Addiction
Addiction to work is one of the major addictive behaviours that may have serious consequences to workers mental and physical health. It is a 21st century phenomena and only one of 24 listed addictions that are widespread in many countries. In addition to alcohol, drug addiction using marijuana, cocaine, prescription drugs and gambling addiction are high on the list of addicted behaviours that will impact mental and physical health.
Cross addiction occurs when a number of addictive behaviours are practiced at the same time and ceasing one addiction such as alcohol may result in switching to another. Workers engaged in addictive behaviour pose a high safety risk especially those who drive in the course of their work.
Learning Objectives
In our upcoming 3 hour Online Certified learning Programme, we’ll delve into the topic of Employee Support Therapy. Those attending will learn about:

Certificate of attendance presented by the EAP Institute and PowerPoint will be sent by email.
Professional development hours PDH’s will be awarded by the Employee Assistance Certification Commission (EACC).
The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health members will be able to allocate CPD points to courses at a rate of 3 points per course day.
Summary
This leading online training session on Thursday 23rd May 2024 2pm-5pm, IST will be led by industry experts Maurice Quinlan, Director of the EAP Institute in Waterford, Ireland, and Sinead Kelly, Self Health Coach, Corporate Wellbeing. This session provides the opportunity for participants to engage in real-time discussions, ask questions, and seek clarification on the complex topics covered.
