Over 50 future leaders began their journey on the Waterford Chamber Regional Leaders Programme this week at an inspiring opening session facilitated by former programme participant Dermot Keyes of Green Acre Marketing.

The participants were joined by a number of the programme mentors and coaches and together they enjoyed an entertaining panel discussion featuring past participants Claire Mooney, ReduceCosts.ie; Catherine Keighrey, MTU lecturer; Stephen Cummins, Unum and Valerie Farrell, Nolan, Farrell & Goff Solicitors, followed by a delicious lunch at Faithlegg.

Speaking to those gathered, Kevin Doolin, Waterford Chamber President thanked Bausch + Lomb for their ongoing support and guidance and Waterford Chamber Skillnet for funding it. “Over the years we have amassed an alumni of over 500 leaders who will shape the future of our region. Today you join that club.

“The Regional Leaders Programme is your programme. It is designed by the business community for the business community, we are just the conduit who makes it happen. This is what makes this programme unique.

“I would also like to welcome the International Coaching Federation Ireland Chapter who have come on board this year to enhance the offering and we are delighted to see so many new mentors and coaches with us, all giving their time voluntarily to build a better business community for all.”

During the event, Deirdre Lacey, Operational Excellence Lead at Bausch + Lomb, shared her personal story from when she participated in the programme and spoke of the importance of fostering leadership in the workplace, something that is a key priority at Bausch + Lomb.

Over 50 experienced business leaders from across the country have also joined the programme and will work with the participants over a six month period. The Regional Leaders Programme boasts an alumni of over 500 past participants, a powerful network who will drive the region forward for many years to come.
