Due to the Public Sector industrial action strikes planned for October 14th and the subsequent work-to-rule action, Waterford Chamber has announced the postponement of Engineering the South East Conference & Expo, which was scheduled to take place on Thursday, October 15th at SETU Arena.

The event, which brings together the South East’s engineering, manufacturing and technology sectors, will now take place on Thursday, March 4th, 2027, at SETU Arena, Waterford.

Given the scale and complexity of the event, according to organisers it is logistically impossible to deliver the conference and exhibition to the standard expected by exhibitors, sponsors, speakers and delegates.

Gerald Hurley, CEO of Waterford Chamber, said: “This has been an extremely difficult decision, particularly given the significant work that has gone into planning Engineering the South East Conference & Expo, especially as this year marks a complete rebrand of the event. Out of respect for the tremendous commitment shown by the companies, sponsors, speakers and partners who have come on board, we want to be able to deliver our best. An event of this magnitude requires extensive coordination, infrastructure and support, and unfortunately, the current circumstances mean it is simply not possible to proceed as planned.

“We sincerely apologise to all the companies and organisations that have committed their time, resources and investment to the event. We fully recognise the inconvenience and disruption this postponement will cause and are extremely grateful for their understanding and continued support.

Stephen Rooney, Manager of Engineering the South East Cluster added, “Our priority is to deliver an event that reflects the strength, innovation and ambition of the South East’s engineering and manufacturing sectors. We look forward to welcoming everyone to SETU on March 4th, when we can deliver the event in the manner it deserves.”

The Women in Engineering Breakfast to celebrate National Women's Enterprise Day, will go ahead as planned and there will be other online events arranged on October 15th to ensure exhibitors and contributors are still catered for.

All exhibitors, sponsors, speakers and registered delegates will be contacted directly by Waterford Chamber with further information regarding the rescheduled event.
