About Us
We raise awareness of issues relating to disability specifically in Waterford City & County and more generally Nationally and elsewhere. This includes bringing issues to the attention of the general public, liasing with journalists & politicians and communicating with relevant parties.
Having a welcoming, accessible office which people can visit in person or contact by phone, mail or Social Media so we can try answer any questions they may have, resolve any issues where possible, or refer them to the relevant body best placed to help them. Of course we are more than happy to contact other organisations, departments, politicians etc on behalf of those who contact us seeking advice or help.
Provide a forum through which people or groups involved in different aspects of the disability sector can meet, share ideas and work together for common goals.
Providing information resources on rights & entitlements of those with a disability plus a database of groups supporting those with a particular disability.
Using Social Media to highlight issues affecting people with a disability, provide information on groups and support systems available and to increase dialogue and debate on issues surrounding disability.
Providing speakers to groups or organizations wishing to learn about issues affecting those with a disability, in the workplace, community or elsewhere.
Have W.D.N. represented at as many Civic & community events as possible, as well as having information stands in shopping centres & locations to increase awareness of W.D.N., to enable us to be of se
