The Aphex Group and Fancy Chips held their first Chamber ‘Business After Hours’ event on the 2nd December at their premises on Queen’s Street, Tramore. The evening was a resounding success with a host of local Tramore business owners and Waterford Chamber members in attendance.

President John McSweeney made the opening address to all guests and highlighted the addition of new venture Fancy Chips to Kevin Walsh’s business portfolio. He also declared that Tramore has become a hub of business activity and a premium food destination.

Kevin Walsh, the Managing Director of The Aphex Group, which comprises of Recruitment By Aphex, Validation By Aphex and Chemishield, and now Fancy Chips recalled how it all began. Kevin spoke about his humble beginnings at Fumbally Exchange with The Aphex Group in Waterford city to eventually growing and establishing four businesses today.

Mayor Kelly officiated the business launch by cutting the ribbon. This was followed closely by Kevin and the Mayor sharing a giant Christmas cracker. Santa dropped by to help the Mayor switch on the Christmas lights and he checked his list twice. Luckily we were all on the good list. He fueled up on Fancy Chips food in preparation for Christmas Eve. The evening came to a close with a €500 voucher for The Europe in Killarney being won by lucky raffle ticket winner Andrew from T-R-M.

Kevin firmly believes everyone should have access to high quality delicious fast food and for that reason established Fancy Chips. Fancy Chips is a high-end fast food take away restaurant that provides locally sourced, freshly cooked home made food.

Kevin stated ”Absolutely thrilled with the event last night. It was great to see some familiar faces and meet new ones. Waterford Chamber plays a pivotal role in the business community and we at the Aphex Group were only more than happy to host last night's networking event. I’m proud that we were able to play a part in fundraising for the Waterford Lions Club. They do tremendous work, and their efforts are really felt by those in need especially around Christmas time. I’d like to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation for everyone who came. From a personal perspective it’s been fantastic to open Fancy Chips. This is a real passion project of mine and I am committed to delivering a culinary food experience to the people of Tramore and beyond.

Evelyn Fitzmaurice, Chief Marketing Officer added “The Chamber evening was a wonderful success. It really brought Fancy Chips to the fore and it established the brand firmly in people’s minds. A lot of work has gone into creating Fancy Chips and it's fantastic to celebrate its official opening with local business owners and Chamber guests alike.”

John McSweeney concluded “Waterford Chamber were delighted to be present to acknowledge the achievements to date of the Aphex Group and to celebrate the opening of Kevin’s latest business venture “Fancy Chips”. Tramore has much to offer from a business and community perspective and we look forward to supporting our Chamber members over the coming months and celebrating even more business and community successes. We wish everyone in business the very best for the festive season.”
