The Tower Hotel was delighted to celebrate with all its staff and management at an Employee Appreciation Awards Nights held recently in Waterford. The staff were treated to a prosecco arrival at the hotel with home made canapes followed by a night of dancing, food and celebration.
The hotel is renowned for its customer service and this due to its wonderful staff and management team that the hotel is widely recognised for.
What is unique about the hotel is the length of service that a number of the employees have. There were 2 awards for over 10 years’ service, 4 awards for over 15 years’ service, 6 awards for over 20 years’ service and 2 awards for over 30 years’ service, with Kieran O’Reilly the Bar Supervisor being rewarded for his loyalty with an amazing 39 years’ service. All of these employees have each contributed a substantial amount of time and loyalty to the Tower Hotel and it was important that they are recognised and given the current difficulties in recruitment and retention it is important that their loyalty was acknowledged.
On the night the employees were presented with vouchers and a keepsake to mark the momentous occasion by the General Manager Michael O’Neill who himself has 28 years’ service in the hotel and has worked in all departments over this time.
Speaking on the night Michael said ‘I am very proud to be in this situation as General Manager of such a landmark hotel and to be able to celebrate this night with my colleagues and friends. The hotel industry can be very demanding at times but it is very rewarding and it is our staff that make the hotel what it is. It is a privilege to present the awards and I would like to thank all the team for their hard work and efforts over this time’.
The Tower hotel is part of the Neville Hotel Group, an Irish and family owned groups of hotels which includes The Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire, Druids Glen Golf Resort in Wicklow, The Kilkenny Rivercourt Hotel and The Ravensport Resort due to open in early 2024.
