The Tower Hotel is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael O’Neill to General Manager of the hotel.

Michael is a familiar face to anyone who knows the hotel having joined the team in 1994 as part of the hotel’s banqueting team. From there Michael has worked in every department in the hotel learning about daily operations across all areas and over this time has had a variety of roles from Banqueting Manager, to Food Services Manager to Operations Manager where he was responsible for the day to day operations of the hotel and now General Manager.

Michael has a career in hospitality spanning almost 28 years and in recent years has seen massive changes in the industry and in the Tower Hotel itself since its acquisition by the Irish family owned group, Neville Hotels. The hotel recently underwent a full renovation and refurbishment project and was subsequently upgraded to a 4-star rating something that Michael is extremely proud of. Michael places a huge emphasis on the team at Tower Hotel and always points out that “It’s our people who make the difference”.

Michael is a native of Ferrybank and is very proud of his roots. Over his time in the hotel he has looked after many Christenings, Communions, Confirmations, Weddings, Dinner Dances, Conferences and not to mention Christmas parties. There isn’t a person in Waterford and beyond who has organised an event in the hotel in recent years that hasn’t encountered Michael.

Speaking at the appointment, Therese Kelly, Director of Neville Hotels said, ‘We are delighted to appoint Michael to the role of General Manager of the Tower Hotel and we have no doubt that the hotel will go from strength to strength under his direction’.

Speaking about his new role Michael said, ‘I feel especially attached to the Tower Hotel, having worked here for so long and I am genuinely delighted to have been granted this opportunity to become the hotel’s General Manager. I will be working hard to achieve even higher levels of hospitality and ensuring that all our guests both local and from afar enjoy their time at the Tower Hotel.’

Michael is looking forward to welcoming all our guests both old and new into the hotel in 2022.
