Following on from the success of Waterford Chamber’s recent Resurgence 25X event with ATPO, five ideas have been chosen to explore their viability for Waterford as we look to recover post Covid-19.
These ideas will be presented on Wednesday, May 5th at 12.30pm via a live webinar, which is free to attend and open to all.
Topping the bill will be An Tánaiste Leo Varadkar, who will discuss the opportunities and challenges on remote working, along with Seamus Kilgannon of workLAB.
Renowned chef Darina Allen will be joined by local woman Clodagh Griffin in exploring the viability and implementation of a vibrant farmer’s market in the city centre, while Barry Kenny of Irish Rail and Marian Walsh, Carron + Walsh, will look at the possibilities presented by a high speed train to Dublin.
Niall Harrington, Fewer Harrington & Partners, will be joined by an international retail specialist on making Waterford Ireland’s first outlet city, while Mary Houlihan, Fáilte Ireland and Ronan Mulligan, Mulligans Pharmacy, will look at the opportunities that will come from developing the William Vincent Wallace Plaza as the place where the Greenway begins.
According to Gerald Hurley, CEO Waterford Chamber: “Developing our city and county is a key priority right now and the opportunities are immense. Last week we saw the launch of Waterford – Find Your Future, the new investment brand for Waterford and in recent months we have engaged regularly with our members on idea generation for the city and county. Resurgence 25X is a key part of that and our first event brought about innovative and actionable ideas.
“Our Viability session will look at the five ideas we have selected and drill down into the detail of can it be done, who can do it and when or if it can be delivered. Once this is established, we will move to the next phase of implementation.
“This has been a tremendous opportunity for everyone to have a voice and bring about real change for Waterford. It has been a pleasure to work with Dr Feargal O’Neill of ATPO, whose passion and vision for Waterford is inspiring.
“We would welcome everyone to join us on May 5th and together we will build a better future for Waterford.”
Looking forward to the event, Dr Feargal O’Neill said: “Resurgence 25X was developed to address the challenges presented by Covid-19 and to shine a light on possible ways to rise to these challenges.
“The concept is to garner as many ideas and options as possible from a wide field of contributors to push us through to a full sustainable recovery by 2025. Our first event was so encouraging and was followed by our radio series on the Hot Desk with WLR. Now we are delighted to be joined by such an esteemed panel for our viability session and I truly believe we have some tangible ideas here that can be delivered for Waterford.”
