Now in its sixth year, the Waterford Chamber Regional Leaders Programme has gone through an exciting change and will begin later this month, bringing the business community together to develop the future leaders of the region.

Places are still available and according to Gerald Hurley, CEO Waterford Chamber, they are looking for professionals who have management potential, run their own business or are looking to advance their career to join.

The Regional Leaders programme has gone from strength to strength over the past  six years. While the last two programmes were predominately remote, we adapted and carried on regardless. This year, we have re-imaged the programme, with a mix on online and in person events.

“We also have a number of new leaders joining us this year, who have a wealth of experience and are excited to share their skills and knowledge with the participants. Ultimately this programme is designed by the business community for the business community and we now have an alumni of over 300 people. That is an incredibly powerful network of business leaders who will be to the forefront of the economic development of our city and region in the years to come.

“This year, the format is simple – each participant chooses three mentors to work with over the nine month period and there is one event per month, ranging from inspiring speakers like Gary O’Callaghan, former CEO of Siemens and owner of Vivaldi Insights and David McRedmond CEO, An Post, to interactive workshops like Leading with Emotional Intelligence with Michael Cox of MCX Training and our opening event in Faithlegg on September 27th with Shane O’Sullivan of Inspiring Excellence.

“We have also brought together some fantastic leaders and entrepreneurs for our panel discussion events, which will focus on leadership and personal development.

“Along with our industry partners Bausch + Lomb, Waterford Chamber Skillnet is back as our funding partner, offering 25% for this year, meaning the nine month programme is a mere €262.50, which is incredible value.

“This year, the programme also has the full support of all the regional Chambers and Skillnets, who will also be participating. This will add huge value to the programme, not just in terms of cross regional networking but also in developing leaders who will go on to make a huge difference to the future development of our region. It will strengthen ties with other counties and add value to the South East as a great place to work and do business.”

So who is the programme for? In essence, anyone in business. CEOs, CFOs, entrepreneurs, start-ups, middle and senior managers have all taken part – it’s about inspiring future leaders, sharing knowledge and information and creating a powerful business network across the region.
