Over 50 future leaders began their journey on the Waterford Chamber Regional Leaders Programme this week at an interactive open session facilitated by Shane O’Sullivan of Inspiring Excellence at Faithlegg.
During the event, renowned hurler and business coach Shane set the scene for the new group of recruits on how to become better leaders in both the work environment and in their personal lives, by speaking passionately on mindset, determination and belief.
The participants were joined by a number of the programme mentors and together they enjoyed Shane’s insights, networking opportunities and a delicious lunch.
Speaking to those gathered, Gerald Hurley, CEO Waterford Chamber said: “The Regional Leaders Programme is your programme. It is designed by the business community for the business community, we are just the conduit who makes it happen. This is what makes this programme unique. And we couldn’t do it without the support of our partners Bausch + Lomb, Waterford Chamber Skillnet and the regional Skillnets, who have made the programme so affordable through funding.
“As a Chamber, our job is to act as the voice for business in Waterford, but we cannot do that without you. We need your input, your collaboration and your leadership. We encourage debate, opinions, interactions – without them we cannot progress and fight for what we need.
“With any submission or representation we make, we engage with our members so have your voice heard, get engaged and as our leaders, make a difference. This is your programme now – embrace it and make it work for you.”
Over 40 experienced business leaders from across the country have also joined the programme and will work with the participants over a nine month period. Now in its fifth year, the Regional Leaders Programme boasts an alumni of over 300 past participants.
