Finance and a preview of the Senior Hurling Championship was the order of the day at ‘Getting Down to Business’ breakfast hosted by Waterford Chamber and Permanent TSB in the Viking Hotel.
Hurling legends Ken McGrath and John Mullane were the stars of the show as Martin Ryan, Territory Sales Manager for Permanent TSB Waterford, put them through their paces, looking forward to the season ahead, while also throwing in the obligatory hilarious tale or two from days of yore.
Opening the event Caroline Barron welcomed the early risers and spoke about the role of the three branches in Waterford and how proud they were to support the Solas Centre in 2022 with a donation of €35,000 as part of their Community Fund.
Niall Harrington, Deputy President of Waterford Chamber said: “An early start but to be fair any time is a good time to talk hurling. We had many a good day out on the back of your successes and I look forward to hearing the stories and what we can expect for the season ahead. Like in business, you have to start small and start early. With commitment, passion and determination you can all take your place on the field of dreams, just like these two.”
After a delicious breakfast, Robbie Leonard, SME Manager for Waterford, spoke about PTSB supporting business customers in the community and is on offer to them, while Bob Gahan from Irish Life gave an update on Pensions & retirement options.
As the event drew to a close the floor was open to guests to speak with Ken and John and there was an undeniable sense of excitement as people left with hope and expectations for the hurling season ahead.
