As part of a €1 million investment which has seen the business double its footprint at the Kingsmeadow Retail Park, Kelly & Dollard is rebranding as Electrocity Waterford.

Electrocity Waterford Managing Director Bill Hackett said the project “had been in the planning since before Covid. But when that kicked off, it obviously put everything on hold for us. But now that we’re out the other side of that, we were in a position to get working on this development, and we’re in the closing stages of the work now, this will bring a new and exciting retail experience to Waterford, our new look flagship store will be ready for all to see, early December.”

The company acquired the premises directly adjacent to their own store and the scale of the work is immediately evident upon entering the store.

“We’ve doubled our size,” Bill explains, “and it’s all part of delivering a wider experience for customers. We’re branching out into technology through a range of home IT devices, from tablets, to laptops, to gaming and home fitness, along with smart home technology and we now have the best range and display of televisions in Waterford. We’re also the biggest dedicated electrical store in Waterford and we’ve got a fantastic range of brands to choose from.”

He added: “What customers want now is a shopping experience – and that’s what we’re going to be providing here as Electrocity Waterford. It’s going to be live; it’ll be interactive - we’ll have demo days featuring experts drawn from all the brands we have here - so we’re really stepping up to another retail level. It’s all about boosting range and providing greater choice.”

With four new staff already taken on and currently looking for two more, it’s clearly an exciting time for Bill and his Waterford team, which is made up of 17 staff, managed by Jonas Leonavicius.   Jonas head up an extremely experienced team of familiar faces. With Frank Frampton, Georgina O Donnell & Cathy Burke providing in-depth knowledge & advice to Kelly & Dollard’s customers for over 20years.

The expansion of the business coincides with Kelly & Dollard rebranding to Electrocity Waterford. “We’re building on the Kelly & Dollard legacy,” Bill Hackett stated. “Our new website is already live – www.electrocity.ie – it’s the same great product, only better! We’re also going to have the best kitchen range in the South East – it’s literally wall to wall now and you’ll see how the latest Kitchen appliances will look in your home. Added to that, we’re going to have a ‘taste before you buy’ experience here when it comes to our range of coffee machines. We’re in partnership with Coffee House Lane so we’ll have their coffee on site in our dedicated coffee dock area and we’ll make you a coffee from one of our 24 coffee machines here.”

With extended displays throughout the store from wall fires to robot vacuum cleaners, it’s clear that customers will be getting something special in this expanded store, which is part of the Euronics group, the world’s biggest electrical retailing group.

Said Bill: “That allows us access to world leading brands, it also gives us the buying power and positions us to provide lower prices every day. This is a good news story for both us and the loyal customer base that’s been built up over the past 30 years.”
