DESCRIPTION:A wonderful evening awaits at our President's Summer Gala on Friday\, 20th June in the Strand Inn\, Dunmore East\, with thanks to our corporate partners AIB Bank.\n\n \n\nEnjoy drinks overlooking the Bay from 3pm\, followed by a sumptuous meal and addresses by our President Kevin Doolin and guest speaker John Moran\, Mayor of Limerick.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT JOHN MORAN\n\nJohn Moran is the first directly elected Mayor of Limerick\, inaugurated on June 21\, 2024\, following a historic public vote. Born in Birmingham\, England\, in the mid-1960s\, he was raised on his family's farm in Patrickswell\, County Limerick\, and later in Dooradoyle. He attended St. Paul's National School and CBS Sexton Street before earning a law degree from University College Dublin and a master's from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Moran is also a solicitor and a member of the New York Bar.\n\n\n\nHis diverse career spans law\, finance\, and public service. He worked as a Wall Street lawyer and investment banker before returning to Ireland to serve as Secretary General of the Department of Finance from 2012 to 2014. Moran was instrumental in managing Ireland's economic recovery during the financial crisis. He has also served on the boards of the European Investment Bank and Shannon Airport Group.\n\n\n\nAs Mayor\, Moran aims to transform Limerick into a more sustainable\, inclusive\, and prosperous city-region. His vision includes enhancing quality of life\, fostering economic growth\, and promoting environmental sustainability. He is also known for his community involvement\, including supporting the Hunt Museum's garden in honor of his father.
